| Well I haven't quite been doing the "art daily" thing, but I've been working when inspiration hits. I've made 3 pairs of sweet little earrings and re-worked a pair I wasn't happy with. Click on the pictures to see them in more detail.

| I'm a bit behind on taking pictures this week.
I call these earrings "Caramel Twist." They are made with vintage glass, freshwater pearls and butter amber. Yummy!

| These are not the exact pair of earrings I made for Monday, but a pair exactly like them. I don't like to duplicate my work too much, but my client who I made these for asked for another pair.

| I've been a bit lax in my blogging.. so here's a 3-fer. Small things mostly.. earrings and a sparkly choker. Click on the pictures for more detail.

| I have several pink lampwork beads that I've been hanging onto for a few years. I ran into them when I was organizing my space and they have been on my mind ever since. Today's piece is accented with faceted crystals and glass beads with pink and iridecent hues. I think tomorrow's piece will be pearls. | Amber is one of my favorite materials. It's so rich and warm and just touching it is a tactile link to past millenia. Click on the pictures to see a larger view.

| I don't know why exactly.. maybe because I had the beads and saw a design I liked and ran with it. Maybe it's the formality of the mourning this past week for a president. Either way, I've created a very nice 3-strand black necklace. Instead of using Jet beads, popular in Queen Victoria's time, I used Onyx, Jasper and Chinese Crystals.
I had time for this one today because I ended up not going to work due to a mid-morning traffic court appointment that lasted 2 1/2 hours. And I didn't even get out of the ticket. {sigh}
Maybe that's why I made this necklace today... mourning my driving record ;)

| I had started to make these earrings and necklace for myself and then realized after I was done that I really need to sell them. I made these yesterday morning and they are currently listed for sale in my Etsy shop.
I've had these lucite/shell heart beads for quiet some time and am in the process of making a bracelet. I'm not sure why I haven't finished the bracelet yet.. but the necklace and earrings I was able to whip out in a couple hours. Go figure :)

| My goals for between now and 1 January are:
- to clean up my space
- make a list of my partially-completed projects/pieces that need re-working
- to take apart old pieces that either didn't quite make it or that are just old and ugly
- to complete outstanding custom projects that I haven't had the chance to finish
I also have some costume jewelry that I got from my grandmother that I need to take a look at and determine which pieces I'm going to use and which ones I'm going to take apart.
My work space as it currently stands - in desperate need of clean up and organization:

| I worked on custom requests over the weekend for a green-themed necklace.
Since I have a number of different green types of gemstones in my collection, I made 3 necklaces to choose from.
| The first necklace is Ocean Jasper, Green Aventurine, Tiger's Eye and Sterling Silver.
This necklace is very delicate but very earthy. The different shades of the Green Aventurine give it depth and interest, while the subtle gold shades play off against the Tiger's Eye.I made this necklace starting with wanting to use the Ocean Jasper as the focal point.
You can see more detail of the beads on my Flickr page - just click on the picture. | The second necklace is Blossom Jasper combined with Unakite and Black Onyx.
This necklace is a bit more chunky. I separated the focal beads of the Jasper and the Unakite with matte black seed beads and Black Onyx rounds between each focal. The result is a balanced, yet funky look. The greens and orangy-pink-reds in both pieces play nicely off of each other.
You can see more detail of the beads on my Flickr page - just click on the picture. | | | The third necklace is "New" Jade, Unakite, Zoisite Jasper and Amber.
This necklace has a very earthy feel to it with lots of Unakite and some Zoisite Jasper and New Jade to bring out the deeper shades of green. The Amber also ties together the Unakite and the Jasper.
This piece reminds me of the forest floor and the myriad of colors and textures when walking through the woods.

Finally, I made a bracelet using Ocean Jasper, "New" Jade and Amber. I love the different colors found in the Ocean Jasper and am looking forward to working with more pieces.

My client ended up choosing the Ocean Jasper/Green Aventurine necklace, which, when it comes down to it, is the one I made for her anyway.
You may soon see the other pieces for sale on Etsy in the near future (although I'm considering keeping the Blossom Jasper necklace for myself!) | comments: Leave a comment |
